Often times we have patients ask us to share their chiropractic story, and we love to hear them. We share them with you here to give you a glimpse of their wellness journey at Swain Chiropractic.
Krista's Story
My husband was the first of our family to start going to Swain Chiropractic. We were patients of another chiropractor that we thought highly of but he referred my husband to Swain after not being able to fix the problem himself. Dr. Kari made him feel at home and welcome, along with taking great care of his chiropractic needs. Not only is she amazing but the entire staff is so friendly and helpful. We then decided to move our entire family to Swain Chiropractic due to their amazing knowledge on women, pregnancy, and post-partum care and their specialization in pediatric care. We have two young kids both of whom we bring in for adjustments.
I was truly amazed at the time that was spent with us, the compassion that was given from the doctor, and the care that we were and still are given.
One particular situation I would love to share is of my daughter who is now 3 years old. About a year ago she experienced extreme regression in her speech and developed a very bad stutter to the point where she couldn’t even put words together. She had been speaking in sentences since 18 months and at 2 it was clear something was wrong. We had taken her to our pediatrician and were told to wait it out but as concerned parents we wanted to get the opinion of Dr. Kari whom we had grown to trust already. We took her to Swain where she was evaluated, given a scan, and adjusted. She recommended a pretty strict adjustment schedule to try to get her back to her previous state of speech. My husband and I decided to set up a payment plan and follow through with her recommendations. I was truly amazed at the time that was spent with us, the compassion that was given from the doctor, and the care that we were and still are given. A year later, I feel that my daughter’s complete recovery is due to the adjustments she received at Swain Chiropractic. My family of four frequently gets adjusted, and we are due with our third baby in March and will also be taking him or her to be cared for at Swain Chiropractic.

Sara's Story
I am a mom, and being a mom comes with a lot of emotions. My girls are my world; they come first, especially when it comes to their health and well-being. My youngest daughter, Landry is a healthy 3 year old but when she was around 6 months of age we noticed her breathing was very “raspy” and she always seemed to have a rumble in her chest. We took her to the doctor and they told us she more than likely had asthma. This unofficial diagnosis led me to research everything there is about asthma and most research showed it was hereditary. However, neither my husband nor myself have it. I wanted immediate relief for her. We were sent home from the doctors’ office with a nebulizer and medicine. We used the nebulizer everyday and when symptoms would get worse, the doctor would prescribe an oral steroid. I was confident the doctor would give my child what she needed. The oral steroid worked for a couple of months, but soon we returned to the doctor for more.
Around Landry’s 2nd birthday she was hospitalized twice. The first time we went in, they treated her and we were sent home soon after. She was now taking six puffs from her inhaler each day and taking an oral steroid. A few weeks after her first time in the hospital I took her into the doctor as she was grey in color and very sick. She was put on 24 hour oxygen and was pumped full of medicine through an IV. I did not want my child to spend the rest of her life in and out of doctor’s offices, hospitals, and constantly taking something that could affect her in days to come. After a few days in the hospital Landry was released and I started looking for better alternatives.

Fortunately, my sister-in-law came to me and suggested I go to a class with her at her chiropractor’s office. I learned a lot about healthy eating, exercise and was introduced to Dr. Kari. I began telling her about Landry and her history of breathing issues. She took the time to talk to me about Landry specifically and what they could offer for her here. Prior to the class, I wasn’t sure I should let someone adjust my 2 year old daughter or not. I went home, talked to my husband, prayed, and the next day I called and made her 1st appointment. This decision was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Swain Chiropractic has changed our lives. Landry has been receiving adjustments from Swain for almost a year now and she is completely off her inhalers, has not taken any oral steroids, and we have not made any trips to the hospital. Scott & Cutler's Story
We have been patients of Swain Chiropractic since 2006. Scott was first to start after one morning where he sneezed and tore two discs. After trying to contact his current chiropractor with no availability we contacted Dr. Kari. Dr. Kari welcomed him and was determined to help him. It was a long process but it has been very successful.
Cutler was the next one in our family that started chiropractic care. He was just three weeks old and was a very colicky baby with tummy issues. Through adjustments and guidance, we were able to put him on a special formula that helped him immensely!

After the success of Scott and Cutler, we then decided that the rest of the family also needed to be seen and adjusted and we have been with them ever since. We feel very fortunate to have her as our family chiropractor. She is very caring and compassionate about helping resolve our health issues. We feel we can discuss anything going on with ourselves or our children; she listens and advises us on what we should do. We personally feel our children aren’t getting sick as often due to them being adjusted on a wellness basis. When they do get sick, we have gotten to the point of getting them adjusted first and then waiting to see if they need other medical attention, something I would have never done before coming to Dr. Kari. My only regret is that I wish we would have become patients sooner.

Ashley's Story
We have been seeing Swain Chiropractic for nearly a year now. When we first arrived at Swain Chiropractic it was due to a neck injury of my own that was causing me extreme pain. However, at home we were nursing a much larger issue with my husband’s back. During the course of my initial visit to Swain, I made mention of my husband’s situation and we began to discuss the possibilities, and so began a journey of recovery and knowledge!
Dr. Kari began to immediately address my neck issue and I began regular visits which have dramatically improved the situation and even increased the quality of my vision! My husband’s back is the real story here though. Michael had undergone back surgery several years prior and ever since had still dealt with mild pain. Unfortunately, in the several months leading up to our visit to Swain, Michael had begun to experience severe pain again. The pain was to the point that he could do nothing to escape it… walking, sitting, lying down… it was all a challenge, and at times he was literally brought to his knees in excruciating pain.
After telling Dr. Kari about my husband’s poor condition, she immediately assisted us in obtaining an appointment with a specialist. We had been waiting for our doctor’s office to do this for weeks! Upon seeing the specialist, we left feeling hopeless because they were certain that surgery was Michael’s best bet. Statistics were not on our side due to Michael having undergone one surgery already. The pain he was experiencing was taking over our lives at this point, including our three very young children. We knew something had to be done, but we were so reluctant to jump to surgery as the resolution.
After more discussions with Dr. Kari, she came up with a plan to first relax the muscle tension in Michael’s back using a device they offered there, and then began a slow but sure recovery of frequent chiropractic adjustments. Within a couple weeks, Michael was able to stand up straight again, and within few weeks, there was a noticeable difference in the pain. Within several months, Michael was feeling completely physically capable again. It’s been less than a year, and now Michael continues to see Swain Chiropractic as a form of well-being and preventative measure for his back. I am VERY happy to say that we never scheduled that second surgery.
I have been thoroughly impressed with the professional yet comfortable disposition of all those who work at Swain Chiropractic. I am so thankful for Dr. Kari’s willingness to discover more about Michael’s situation. Many chiropractors would have never touched Michael in his condition, but Dr. Kari had the confidence balanced with a healthy respect for the situation. At that very first appointment, I knew that she may not have the ability to undo the situation due to its severity, and I appreciated her professional honesty, yet I sensed a willingness to research that could not be surpassed.

We also now take our three children and trust the doctor wholeheartedly with them. I love the environment and that my children are so comfortable there. They love to go and consider it a treat! We have learned a vast amount of information regarding natural remedies and overall well-being. They offer more than I have even had time to discover yet, but I look forward to many more years of soaking in all the knowledge they provide!

Isabella's Story
I was one of those mothers who was a little skeptical about chiropractic, but after going to Swain Chiropractic for my own broken tailbone issues during my pregnancy my view changed. My daughter was born normally, at 37 weeks and seemed to have no foreseen problems at all. After a few weeks Isabella would just cry constantly, my husband and I could not figure out why she was crying so much more than our first child. The cries weren’t “I am just upset” cries, these were “I am in pain cries” and as a mother all I wanted to do was help, but I didn’t know how. After a few weeks of noticing that her head would always fall to one side of the car seat and she wouldn’t lay straight when lying flat, my husband and I knew something was wrong. Our doctor had diagnosed her with torticollis and calcifications in her head from birth, which caused one side of her head to be bigger than the other. This is when I decided that I needed to have the help of Dr. Kari. We started out thinking that it was a normal case of torticollis and were thinking it would just take a few weeks to fix. But after realizing that Izzie was not getting relief right away, Kari suggested having a CT done. We found out, thankfully, that no serious issues were there but that Izzie had a severe case of torticollis in her neck and a good deal of calcifications in her head. I still remember calling and asking to bring Izzie in because she was so upset all day. Kari took time out of her day to spend working with Izzie for over half an hour while Loral and Kristen worked to keep me at ease and occupy my other daughter. After a few more weeks of intense work on Izzie as often as we could, she is doing amazingly. She is a completely different baby. She is so happy and is developmentally growing so much better now. I would suggest to anyone that it is a great investment to have your children adjusted at Swain Chiropractic, and in my case I would say it is a necessity. Kari has done absolute wonders for Isabella, and she is no longer in pain constantly. She is always smiling while getting adjusted, and I know that she and my family are truly cared for and loved at Swain.

The women at Swain Chiropractic have helped me personally and my family in more ways than imaginable. Isabella is a different, pain-free and happy baby now, and that is solely because of the relief and help that we got at Swain Chiropractic.
Duane & Shirley's Story
We are retired and had never been to a chiropractor until about 2003 when Duane could hardly raise his left arm. We had been on a cruise when he first noticed his limitations and a friend recommended chiropractic care. After just a few visits At Swain Chiropractic he noticed a great improvement. He was sold and both of us started this new journey.
