Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

Consciously living a wellness lifestyle before, during, and after pregnancy is essential for the health of mothers and babies.  Pregnancy is a natural, normal state.  It is by design that women’s bodies conceive, carry a baby and give birth.  The incredible adaptive capacity of the human body is most evident during pregnancy.  The physiological changes that come along with pregnancy are completely amazing as they direct the mother towards creating an optimal environment for the developing baby.

Chiropractic care is an essential component of wellness care for the pregnant mother.  Specific chiropractic care during pregnancy enhances nervous system function providing greater health potential for both the mother and baby.

The Webster’s Technique is a specific chiropractic technique that was developed for pregnant mothers.  The adjustment works to correct sacrum subluxations (misalignments) and balances the ligaments and muscle of the women’s pelvis.  This helps to reduce constraint within the pelvis and allows the baby to get into the best position for birth.  There is a very high success rate of allowing babies that are in the breech position to move into the normal head down or vertex position.  This helps to create easier deliveries for both mother and child.

Dr. Freitag, MD, conducted a study that concluded the need for medications during delivery was reduced by half in the pregnant patients who received chiropractic care throughout their pregnancy. It has also been demonstrated that chiropractic care significantly reduces the average amount of time spent in labor.  Research by Dr. Joan Fallon revealed a 30% reduction in the average labor time for those women giving birth who were receiving chiropractic care.

Chiropractic helps women to get well, stay well and be their best – before, during and after pregnancy.
